Dr. Jason Szumski (pronounced Some Ski) joins Bartlett Animal Hospital as Medical Lead, bringing a strong clinical foundation from both emergency medicine and general practice.
His experience in high-intensity ER settings has sharpened his ability to make rapid, critical decisions, while his time in general practice has reinforced a thoughtful, relationship-driven approach to patient care. He is passionate about building cohesive medical teams, elevating standards of care, and mentoring fellow veterinarians to grow both clinically and professionally.
Outside of the hospital, he enjoys staying active and following sports, whether that’s catching a game, playing recreationally, or keeping up with his favorite teams (Bears, Fighting Illini). At home, he shares life with his wife, McKenna, their chocolate lab Rigatoni, and their tuxedo cat, Spooky, who keeps things interesting.
